Finally Australia just sacrificed the Liverpool plains for a few bucks...

“Farming is dead today in the Liverpool Plains, I really hope Greg Hunt (federal environment minister) realises he has signed its death warrant,” said Tim Duddy, a cotton, cattle and grain farmer whose property will overlook the mine. (the Guardian)

Last year I had the chance to spend some time with Timothy Duddy and enjoy the daily lives of the farmers in the Liverpool Plains, the most fertile land of Australia... This blessed area is also one of the biggest groundwater supply of the country and is crucial for the Murray Darling river system. Today is a very sad day as Australia just approved a giant mine to be built in front of Tim's family house !!! This mine will not only destroy Tim's family heritage and the lives of hundred's of farmers but will also threaten the massive underground water resource... Mister Greg Hunt : shame on you.
